I was listening to Gary Quinn, Abundance Coach to the Stars, as he discussed this topic. And he said most of us are living our lives based on our past. What happened in our last relationship, our last job, our last experience with, fill in the blank?

Does that resonate with you? I got goose bumps when I heard it because it made perfect sense to me. Been there and done that.                              

Anyway Gary Quinn suggests that if you keep holding on to the fear you’ll create exactly the reality that you don’t want.  He recommends bringing yourself into the present moment. And what I got from that was the importance of being present in the right now.

I read Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now” and it’s helped me become more mindful of the times that I’m not present. Have you ever done an activity and you were so far away in your mind you forgot you had done it? Ever driven and been so preoccupied you went right past where you were supposed to go? That demonstrates you’re someplace else. Come to the present moment. Breathe.

Gary Quinn talks about tapping into the reality of a different future. That you let go of the past and forgive yourself. I’d like to add: forgive those who you feel may have wronged you.

He suggests that you create a statement that makes you feel great. I recommend using these present tense statements to develop a blueprint for what you want.

To do this look at your life and get clear on what you want. Plan for what you want instead of what you don’t want.

Experience the feeling of what you want and live in that feeling all the time.

Let us admit from the start that there are things that should make us feel insecure. A looming danger from an unsafe balcony. A relationship with a violent alcoholic. A responsibility at work for which we are not adequately prepared … various possibilities come to mind. Such insecurity is based on rational fear. And practical solutions are called for.

For our purposes here, we are talking especially about irrational insecurities, things we ought to be able to handle, but for the fear. Of course, our fear may be based on both a reasonable and an irrational foundation; the two must be distinguished.

And that leads us to the first method of helping oneself control insecurity.

I. Write down your feelings.

Keep a notepad and pen handy, even by your bedside. Write down your thoughts. Why are you feeling anxious? What sensations, mental images, and circumstances trigger your feeling insecure? Is it fear or loss, threat, rejection, separation from a person or thing, learned reaction from childhood, social shame, or something else? What do you tell others that you can’t accomplish that you sort of believe you can, or might be able to accomplish?

Writing down how you feel and the circumstances around your fears helps you to identify where the problem lies. Sometimes this is obvious, and sometimes it takes time to fully unpack your feelings. But writing down your feelings helps discipline your mind, provides a written reminder, and comprises a first step towards countering the irrational.

That’s right. Write things down not to rehearse your fears again, but to expose and clarify them.

II. Compose positive argument contrary to your fears.

Our intellect or belief may be at odds with our emotions. We may know or honestly believe we can speak in public or enjoy a particular group setting, but shy aware from any such occasion. We may feel insecure before and at a job interview, but sincerely believe we are skilled and sufficient for the position. We may know someone loves us, but fear they will reject us. We may believe others pretty much ignored or forgot the stupid thing we said or did, but still be anxious next time we see them that they will belittle us, at least inwardly. We may know we can drive to a new location, but worry that we may panic at an unknown intersection and make a wrong turn.

After identifying your irrational fears, argue against them. Phrase the argument in positive and present terms, such as “I am speaking well” rather than “I don’t fear public speaking.” Composing reasonable affirmations in positive terms helps the subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind may ignore negative qualifiers like “don’t” and translate “don’t fear” as “do fear.”

III. Visualize your success.

This is often the visual version of the positive affirmation statements composed as per point number III, above, but usually with more emotional impact. Picture yourself in vivid detail going through the sights, sounds, and smells of success. This is an exercise for your brain.

IV. Practice.

Re-programming your brain’s emotional hardwiring is going to take time and effort. Pushing through to success means not quitting before you’ve reached the top. Set a time or multiple times aside during the day to practice reprogramming your emotions. Develop a good habit. Set a goal of daily practice, for example, for three weeks.

V. Make the decision, take the action.

Go to the job interview, address the group, execute your goal. Repeated success helps in controlling insecurity.

When life knocks you down

Has life ever knocked you down? If YES are you still lying down and waiting for help, are you trying to get sympathy as to how badly you are knocked down? Are you trying to find faults to blame someone? If your answer is NO , well the good news is life will knock you down soon and the question is not whether it will happen or not the question is ARE you ready to get up again when life will knock you flat on your face ?

 

Life is like a roller coaster, sometimes it will be up and sometimes down, during the uptimes we keep everything in our bank, during down times we keep everything in our heart. Negatives are more powerful than positives and our brain responds to negatives more quickly than a positive thing that happens in our life.

 

The biggest manufacturing unit lies not in a factory but right at the top of a human body and that’s our brain. You give it one negative thought and the brain will start manufacturing literally hundreds and thousands of reasons to support that. BEWARE of what you think because it’s the same with one positive thought. More we think negative more our brain starts supporting it and slowly the once strong hearted person slides into a person filled with depression.

 

Solutions-

1)      Be careful in what you think for example when you get up from bed early morning if you say the weathers bad trust me your entire day will go bad , have you ever realized that how many of your days have gone bad just like that. Get up every morning with a Big Smile and say what a wonderful day and you have an opportunity to change yours and others life and you will see the difference.

2)      Have you ever come across some good motivational books? Have you taken out time to even read the good books that are lying on your shelf eating dust. If you have the time to watch television, read newspaper and surf on the net than you definitely have time to read a positive book for at least 15 minutes a day. This is time investing in your own self; if not then what are you investing your time in.

3)      Spend time with your family because these are the people who will be there to support you. Love them respect them and share your problems with them.  Choose your friends right. Don’t hang around with losers. Friends are something that you can either grow up with or go down with, choice is yours.

4)      Set your goals, your targets, don’t leave it for tomorrow. Stay motivated in whatever you do and try to be the motivation for others. It doesn’t take much, just a pat on the back and say you can do it. It will do a world of good to someone because not many people do that.

5)      Pray and ask God for the guidance cause He knows. God has time for us in every breath we take but we have time for HIM only on Sundays.

 

Last but not the least remember the universal language “Smile”, in every culture in every corner of this planet it’s the same. You reap what you sow, you get what you give. Smile and you will get a smile back. Follow these simple steps and no matter how hard life knocks you down you will have the power to get up every time and all the time. God bless.

The Last Step on the Success Stair

This means that you will accept responsibility for your actions, you will constantly seek wisdom, you always take action, you have a decided heart, you choose to be happy every single day and you will forgive any one that wrongs you!

Far too many people this day in age are in the habit of quitting, they start an endeavor with high hopes, work at it religiously until it gets real hard, start losing interest, making excuses and saying to themselves, at least I tried. Quitting becomes a habit. Persistence is also a habit, a good one. When you decide you are going to finish something, when you find a way when there is no way, miracles begin to happen. Each time you complete a hard task it becomes a success, it creates confidence in you, fueling the passion in you, challenging you to do even more!It takes away any fear and replaces it with the faith of knowing it can be done because you did not quit the time before.

The Power of Positive Affirmations

Our self talk is an internal dialogue to creating our world.  Allowing yourself to pay attention to your thoughts and start eliminating the one’s that create life experiences you choose not to have.  Simply using affirmations and creating your world with every thought and word you speak. Saying affirmations are only part of the process.  What you do the rest of the time is equally important.

Positive minds produce positive lives!  What a statement.  Positive minds always manifest positive results in your personal and professional lives.  Every complaint you have is an affirmation telling your life YOU WILL NOT or CAN NOT achieve, have or become. Our point of power is in the present moment.  The more you think, see and talk about what you don’t want, you manifest that thought like a seed being planted and the more you talk about it, think about it, talk about it, think about it-becomes your life.  The continue negative self talk grows to more not wanting.  Affirming and visualizing  FEEL it, SEE it, TASTE it, TOUCH it and HEAR it ~ you will achieve what you are working towards.

Guide to Positive Affirmations:

~ Always start with I am or I have:  I believe, I always, There is

~ Stay in the present tense

~ Think positively

~ Keep sentences short:  2-3 max

~ Be specific

~ Use (ing) at the end:  happening, fulfilling, feeling, smiling

~ Feeling words:  joy, peace, happy, exciting

~ Goals in your life:  reaffirm

~ Stay in the attitude of allowing:  for change, for excitement, for new journeys

~ Stay in the attitude of acceptance: of what is to become

 It is almost impossible to belittle yourself or stay angry with yourself and others if you find the treasure in every trial.  Negative thoughts are from criticism, fear, guilt and resentment.  The words you speak will steal your joy.  Every thought you have has energy attached to it that will strengthen or weaken you.  These draining thoughts that weaken you are obstacles to creating the life you intended to live.  You have a choice.  Everyone has a choice to surround yourself with positive thoughts, music, people, scents, TV shows and movies.  What ever is going on inside will come out into your environment.  Any thought that places a barrier between what you would like to have and your ability to attract it into your life is resistance.

 The more you choose thoughts that make you feel happy and refreshed, the closer you are to empowering your life.  The way you choose to think right now is just that a choice.  No person, place or thing has any control over your feelings BUT YOU. 

 Questions to ask yourself?

~ How do you feel right now?  Good?  Bad?

~ What are your current emotions?

~ Would you like to feel better?

Reach for better thoughts.  Affirmations are simply choosing to think certain thoughts that will create positive results.  When you choose to think better thoughts your mind is clearer-more focused, your health is better-feel better, your attitude at home or work is better, your relationships are better and goes on and on from there.  The end result ~ ALL BETTER!

Our fears hold us back from doing.  Moving forward from negative to positive of courage and bravery we can open new doors and empower ourselves.  Our personal power will move mountains and solves our problems.  When you feel good, good things are attracted to you.  Your consistency of performance automatically creates the life you intended to live.  By making better choices everyday develops better habits, builds a better person and in return attracts bigger and better opportunities and allows you to contribute more and brings you bigger and better rewards.

If adversity, success, and experience are the building bricks, then courage, perseverance, and tenacity are the mortar that holds together the foundations of leadership.  To complete my self development plan I use introspection on my own experiences.  My unique story is inspirational and will help others find the courage to view pressure and risk as a privilege.  In order to harness your own leadership potential it is necessary to have a strategic personal leadership plan.  The plan should indicate past experience, present leadership strengths, future goals, and a clear plan to achieve those objectives.

 

In May of 2003 I graduated from Eckerd College with a B.A. in international business.  This education helped me land a great career in sales and ultimately helped me purchase my first home.  I exhibited many common leadership traits, but I had no idea life would soon test my character.  “While prominent leaders may be presumed to have the resources to rebound from any disaster, those very presumed advantages can easily turn into great obstacles to recovery. Leaders should not be measured by how they bask in the gratification of their accomplishments. Rather, they should be measured by how they respond when fate deflates the joys of hard-earned triumphs.” (Sonnenfeld, 2008) As in other success stories my fortunes changed dramatically in November of 2006 when I was diagnosed with a rare eye disease, Lebers Optic, causing me to go blind.  Although blindness was a formidable obstacle that prevented me from continuing to work in my former sales position I was determined to move forward.

 

I reached out to several organizations for career assistance and training.  The division of blind services offered vocational rehabilitation and computer training.  Working diligently with my computer trainer I learned to use the computer again with JAWS a screen reader that provides audio feedback.  This gave me access to the internet and thus the entire world outside the boundaries of my home.

 

The internet became my channel for creativity.  I first had to deal with my impending mortgage bills and income deficits.  I decided that I would rent out my guest bedrooms to renters for additional income using a roommate referral website.  My plan to rent out one guest bedroom worked so well that I launched another to rent my second guest bedroom.   Since January of 2007, I have maintained at least one renter in my house helping to supplement bills and my mortgage.  The fee for listing and communicating on the website was nominal, but when I looked at the scale of the sheer numbers of members on the site it seemed like a lucrative business. 

 

I decided that I could help my parents and any other seasonal rental owners by offering a website that helps rental managers and snowbirds connect.  In early 2008, I started gathering information on what would be required to create a website of this magnitude.  After interviewing various contractors, my friend, a former outsourcing manager for Oracle, offered the best solution.  I sent my site requirements list to my new development team in India.  Using teleconferencing, email, and social media we made a unique seasonal rental website snowbirdseeker. com LLC.  Our constant contact and collaborative effort helped launch the website in June of 2008. 

 

The site was open for business and began making headlines immediately.  Tom Bayles of the Sarasota Herald Tribune reported “he hired an outside company to create the crisp look of the site, one Northerners should be able to navigate with ease.” (Bayles, 2008)  After the article was published traffic increased dramatically and the customers were very quick to supply feedback on any errors and anomalies with the service.  I tackled each complaint with my talking JAWS screen reader.  While I was making progress sales were slow, so I decided that I would pursue a Masters degree in Business and Management.  This decision enables me to quickly put theory into practice.  The graduate level classes help me design business strategies that work.  In June of 2009 I started to receive membership payments from rental owners that have listed their property in as many as 25 states and 5 different countries.  Today, the website experiences 20,000 annual unique visits and boasts over 700 members.

 

Since I spent many hours researching search engine optimization to improve my rank on search engines I started another service www.seogainseeker.com to help other businesses with their website marketing.  Already my clients are responding well to the new service. 

 

In my spare time I train a Brazilian martial art called Capoeira.  It is unique because it incorporates singing, dance, musical instruments, and martial arts all into one.  I have learned hand stands, spin kicks, backward handsprings, and much more.  I have performed Capoeira in many street exhibitions.  Participating in these public events takes courage, but my belief is that if you are not appearing you are disappearing. 

 

Blindness is a hindrance and challenge, but I look at each challenge as an opportunity to grow.  Today I am the only employee of my organization, but I still implement leadership style into the framework of my site’s structure.  For example to improve the value chain on a daily basis there are several steps in the process of joining or using my web service where members may post comments or feedback.  These interactive additions are using participatory style leadership.  The knowledge I gain from the feedback helps me continuously improve the service.  In the beginning I had so many problems with the service that prioritizing development repairs became a dilemma.  I used executive level autocratic style leadership to organize the best strategy to improve the service.  Since these decisions affected profitability I decided that pursuing a Masters in business would be the best way to ensure sustainable growth for my company and career. 

 

In the future I would like to establish Snowbirdseeker.com LLC as a household name in the seasonal rentals market.  I want my organization to have a leading market share in the vacation rental by owner market.  On a personal level I would eventually like to earn a doctoral degree so that I may open up more speaking opportunities to share what I have learned.  Also, I plan to continue breaking down existing career paradigms for the blind.

 

To achieve my goals I will use strategic marketing that will boost brand awareness.  I will use what I have learned in my master’s degree studies to control the growth of my company.  And for my last goal to break career barriers for the blind I will follow Helen Keller’s words of inspiration “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched–they must be felt with the heart.” (Brinckmeyer, 2008)

Spreading your Wings

Creating the life you desire is a choice available to 80% of us. We have the choice to live the life we desire in harmony with circumstances or full fill  our ambitions and desires Everybody  has a role model they would like to imitate. But why imitate someone you admire when you can be your own wonderful content happy healthy person, For generations people have been restricted and conditioned by their surroundings and peers, . Some good influence some unbelievable shocking to say the least. Now we are more aware of going with our gut feelings and making the choices to lower our stress levels and allow us live a harmonious healthy lifestyle.

Re-structuring your life  is a time for putting yourself number one. After all you have given a major part of your life assisting others.

Now it is time for you. Appreciate the blessings of each day.

Learn the importance of yourself as an individual.

Stop looking for someone to share your free time. Learn to be content with your own company for a while .  you will be surprised how easy it really is. Taking an interest in new hobbies or sporting events is a form of exercise, stimulating to the brain and encourages getting out.

If you are discontent in your job and it drains your energy field, look for other options. Perhaps change to a different location, or look at re- training to change career.

Empty Nest Syndrome

Being a parent has its responsibilities for eighteen years at most. Then  comes the time to set our children free. We continue to  be responsible for them, to a certain extent. Like little birds they grow wings and fear to flee the nest. We have to encourage them to continue on in education of embark on training.

Once the children have moved out   Parents should not feel guilty if they decide to make changes in their own lifestyle.

As parents we can feel redundant and at a loose end. No more daily school runs or family dinners each evening. Cleaning unoccupied rooms  unnecessary. The silent tidy house is a sudden shock to the system. Parents can go through a sort of mourning period.

Not realising thousands of other parents are in exactly the same position also. No one prepares us for this vacancy,  there are no pre-teenage leaving home courses.  One day the house is full alive with chatter and laughter, the next its empty and silent.

How To Find Inner Stillness

For many people the most difficult thing to master in their self-development journey is the ability to find Inner Stillness, that pure place within you that is your divine spark, your connection to all that is and the source of inspirational and transformational ideas.

I would like to share with you a relatively simple technique I have developed that most people interested in self-development will be able to master with a little practice.

First, find yourself a quiet, comfortable place where you can lie undisturbed for about 20 minutes. As a “fascinated observer” focus on your right hand and become aware of the tingling sensations in your right hand. This may take a couple of minutes to develop, but please persevere, as getting this part right makes the rest much easier. Then notice this tingly feeling spread over the whole right hand and arm and notice how you are beginning to lose awareness of the physical arm and just feel its expanded energy field.

While still maintaining the feelings above, now do the same thing with the left hand and arm until you just feel them as a mass of energy.

Continue the same process individually with the right foot, the right leg, the left foot, the left leg, then the trunk of the body – all tingling as you lose the physical sense of them one by one.

Then, be a fascinated observer to the mind chatter in the head and as you observe it in a neutral manner, it will switch off fairly quickly.

Focus gently on observing your breathing and feel inside where the breath is going. At a certain point shortly after that you will feel a definite energetic shift as you lose all sense of your physical body, becoming a mass of tingling energy instead – pure consciousness.

Stay in this wonderful space for as long as desired. It is from this place of pure Inner Stillness that you really feel yourself as Soul, with opportunities for the most amazing synchronicities and ‘coincidences’ in your life, helping you to move forward in ways you would never have imagined possible.

This makes a wonderfully rewarding daily meditation practice.

How to Motivate Yourself in 9 Easy Ways

Lost your drive?  Feeling uninspired?  Don’t get too comfortable lying down.  Get on your feet and motivate yourself in 9 easy ways as follows:

1) Think happy thoughts.  Visualize happy scenes.  When you are happy, your mood is naturally lifted and it’s easier to re-start your engine.

2) Are you chewing more than you can digest?  Break down the task into a series of smaller, doable bite size pieces.  In this way, you will not be overwhelmed by the task on hand and can focus on one small bite a time.

3) Celebrate every achievement.  When you complete a task on hand, even a relatively small task, reward yourself with something you enjoy.  It can be an ice-cream, a good meal or going for a rejuvenating massage.

4) Keep a journal on your achievements.  Build on your success.  With every achievement, your confidence will soar and you will be motivated to achieve more.

5) Don’t compare yourself with others.  Instead pit against yourself.  Review your achievements regularly and you will be pleasantly surprised by how much you have achieved.

6) Remember to incorporate fun factor in your day or even in your task.  You can arrange a bowling game after work or make the party late for meeting tell a story.

7) Form healthy support network.  They can be the colleagues whom you work closely with, parents of your child’s friends or your friends.  Get together often.  Keep the bond strong.  When you need a pep up, they are a good source to turn to.

8)  Feed yourself generously on motivational words.  Read motivational articles and books.  Listen to motivational tapes and CDs.  Reach out and fill up your motivational reservoir.

9)  Keep pictures of people or things that provide strong motivation around you.  Have family pictures on your desk.  Have the picture of your dream car on your screen saver.  Paste motivational stickers on your desk, your mirror or your fridge door.

Come on, you can do it!  Get up and get going.
